Welcome to Cariad Wellness!

An introduction to how I can change your life.
"Cariad" is a Welsh word that means "love". At Cariad Wellness, I love wellness. This is why I am trained in different modalities. I don't believe that making your life a better place is a one-size-fits-all formula. I also believe that our wellbeing is more than just our mental or physical health. Wellness comes from focusing on the bigger picture - our body, our mind, our relationships.

As all of my services are already listed on the website, I thought I would take some time to tell you why I offer the things I offer and what has led me to the healing modalities I have trained in.
The Journey to Cariad Wellness
When I found myself trapped in an abusive relationship, in a country that was somewhat new to me, I was led to support from Karen McAndless-Davis and her "When Love Hurts" phase 1 support group. The group gave me the strength I needed to leave and reshape my life. This opportunity resonated so deeply with me that I felt compelled to train as a counsellor so that I could participate in supporting others through journeys like mine. It changed my life, and my path, in so many ways.
While studying for my Masters degree, I read a research paper that fascinated me. It discussed neurotransmitters and the gut-brain axis. This led me to focus my thesis on the gut-brain connection within a therapeutic environment. Upon graduating from my Masters program, I enrolled in the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. I have an interest in how nutrition can impact our mental health. This has led me down different paths here at Cariad Wellness. While starting out with a focus on hormone health - primarily around fertility, pregnancy, post-partum, and peri-menopause - this path led me in an unexpected direction. I started to notice how much hormonal fluctuations could impact ADHD symptoms. I started seeing many clients who had been diagnosed with ADHD as adults and had a history of experiencing challenges in their relationship with food and themselves. It is work close to my own heart as a neurodivergent practitioner.
While I was busy studying, I also found a deep love of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and hypnosis. Over 2019 & 2020, I completed my Master Practitioner in NLP & Hypnosis. I have delighted in guiding clients through Personal Breakthrough sessions that have enabled them to release limiting beliefs and decisions, to set themselves free and live the life they want.
In 2022, I developed my training further so that I could offer EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and the Flash technique. These modalities work well together to help people dealing with difficult and painful memories. These modalities help to reprocess the painful memory so that it is no longer activating for the person.
One last thing...
As a lifelong learner, I know that my training won't end here. Goals for 2022-2023 are to complete Gottman Institute training for couples counselling, and training in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
